WHAT WE DID IN LOCKDOWN

I wandered lonely as a cloud,Round and round the living room,
When all at once I said out loud,
I know! I’ll see who’s now on Zoom.
And there were my friends, dancing and shooting the breeze,
Socially distancing with ease.
Though this solitude’s not bliss
(My inward eye is all amiss ),
We’ll Zoom and Skype to get through this.

LOCKDOWN LAMENT

March, April, and June

Will this lockdown end quite soon?

But August, September, October…….oh dear!

It seems may go on till the end of this year.

No getting together for our monthly meeting.

No hugging each other as friends we are greeting.

Our Special Groups shelved as now ‘twas decided

That by Government rules we have to be guided.

Six members allowed for our coffees outside,

But Walking was fine and singing we tried..

In Sylvia’s garden in rows altogether,

But Book Group was spoiled by unseasonable weather,

Scrabble and Bridge social distancing needed,

Tai Chi was forbiddenas all rules we heeded.

When vaccines are found, their efficacy proved,

Perhaps this dire plague will at last be removed.

So next year we shall all be excited and keen

To once more resume our established routine.
